Long John And Raised Donut Dough Recipe
- 2 c. scaled lowfat milk
- 5 tbsp. shortening
- 5 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 2 Large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- Flour
- Add in water to make frosting thick sufficient to spread.
- Spread while hot.
- Cold lowfat milk.
- Add in all remaining ingredients except flour.
- Dissolve yeast in hot water.
- Add in sufficient flour to make soft dough.
- Cover and let raise till doubled in size.
- Punch down and let raise again for 1 hour.
- Turn on floured surface roll out 1 inch thickness cut with pizza cutter or possibly donut cutter.
- Let raise 1/2 hour and fry in lard till light brown.
- Frost long johns.
- Dip donuts in sugar.
