Buttercream Icing Recipe
- 1/2 c. Shortening
- 1/2 c. Margarine
- 1 1/2 tsp Clear vanilla
- 5 c. Confectioners sugar
- 2 x 3 Tbsp. lowfat milk
- Cream butter and shortening then add in vanilla.
- Add in sugar a c. at a time beating on medium speed.
- Add in lowfat milk 1 Tbsp.
- at a time and beat on high till fluffy.
- HINT: To cut the sweetness I usually add in about 1/4 teaspoon of salt dissolved in the vanilla.
- Makes 3 1/2 cupsThis is the icing I use to decorate cakes and it has a wonderful flavor.
- It is my Dad's favorite icing (especially on brownies).
