California Roll to try on the Night of Tanabata

  1. Cook the rice, and mix in the sushi vinegar using a cutting and fanning motion.
  2. Let cool.
  3. Cut the crab sticks into small pieces.
  4. Dice the cucumber, sprinkle with a little salt, and wring out the excess liquid.
  5. Mix together the ingredients marked with .
  6. Cut the salmon into thin strips.
  7. Thinly slice the avocado and sprinkle with lemon juice.
  8. Boil the okra and remove the stems.
  9. Cover the sushi mat in a large sheet of plastic wrap, and spread the rice out on top.
  10. Cover the rice with nori and line up the fillings on top of the nori.
  11. Tightly roll up from the end.
  12. Peel off the plastic wrap temporarily and sprinkle sesame seeds over the outside of the rice.
  13. Re-wrap the roll, and let sit.
  14. Cut the roll before eating.
  15. Why not try it for a party?
