Mother's Great Baked Beans Recipe
- 1 pkg. dry beans (any variety)
- 4 tbsp. granulated sugar
- 2 scant teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon powdered mustard
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1 (2 to 3 ounce.) piece salt pork
- 1 med. peeled whole onion
- Soak beans overnight.
- In a.m. drain and replace water.
- Parboil 10 to 15 min (not longer).
- Place onion in crockpot.
- Drain beans and put on top of onion.
- Add in flavors dissolved in 1 1/2 c. of warm water.
- Add in sufficient warm water to just cover top of beans.
- Place salt pork on top.
- Cover and set crock pot on high.
- Bring volume of water up about every 3 hrs.
- Start the pot at 9 a.m.
- Beans will be ready by 4 p.m. (6 to 7 hrs).
