Walla Walla Sweet Relish Salad Recipe
- 2 walla walla sweet onions, sliced
- 6 lg. ripe tomatoes
- 1 green pepper, cut into strips
- 3/4 c. cider vinegar
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon coarse grind pepper
- Skin and cut onions into 1/4" slices, separate into rings.
- Peel tomatoes, cut into quarters.
- Slice green pepper lengthwise into strips.
- Place all in shallow bowl.
- In a saucepan, mix together vinegar, water and seasonings.
- Bring to boiling and boil hard 1 minute only.
- Pour, while warm, over vegetables.
- Chill.
- Serve as relish and salad combined.
- Mix will keep in refrigerator several days.
- Sauce may be used again.
