Brown Sugar Beer Glazed Ham

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil.
  2. Place an oven-safe oven rack on top if you wish.
  3. Place ham on rack and score a grid-like pattern, cutting down into ham about 1/2 inch deep.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together beer, brown sugar, maple syrup, mustard, cornstarch, salt, allspice, cayenne pepper, Chinese five spice and black pepper.
  5. Taking about 1/3 of mixture, brush entire ham generously.
  6. Place ham in oven, uncovered, and bake for 1 hour.
  7. Remove from oven and brush another 1/3 of glaze on top and place back in oven.
  8. Bake for an additional hour or until top is brown and crisp.
  9. Remove from heat.
  10. In a small saucepan, add remaining glaze.
  11. Heat over medium-low heat until alcohol has cooked out and glaze is thick.
  12. Remove from heat and pour into a serving bowl.
  13. Slice ham to your liking and serve warm with glaze.
