Apple Crumb Pie (Zwt Midwestern Region)

  1. Place apple slices in large bowl, mix with sugars, spices and flour.
  2. Pour apple mixture into a pastry-lined 9-inch pie pan.
  3. Mix together 1/2 cup sugar, 3/4 cup flour; cut in butter till crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle over apples in pan.
  5. Bake in 400 degree oven for 40-50 minutes.
  6. (Watch for excess browning; may need to cover with foil near the end of baking time.

  9. Spread double pie crust recipe across a cookie sheet or other long shallow baking pan.
  10. Spread apple mixture on the pastry-lined pan.
