Whole Wheat Raisin Nut Bread Recipe
- 3 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/4 c. toasted wheat germ
- 1/4 c. wheat bran
- 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon grnd cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk or possibly sour lowfat milk
- 1/2 c. honey
- 1/4 c. veg. oil
- 3/4 c. raisins
- 1/2 c. minced walnuts
- In a large mixing bowl combine flour, wheat germ, wheat bran, baking pwdr, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt; make a well in the center.
- In a medium mixing bowl combine buttermilk, honey and oil.
- Add in all at once to flour mix; stir just till moistened.
- Mix in raisins and nuts.
- Spread in a greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan; bake at 350 degrees for 50 min or possibly till a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Cold in pan for 10 min.
- Remove from pan; cold thoroughly on wire rack.
- For a more moist bread, wrap and store overnight.
