Peach Party Cake Recipe

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine first 4 ingredients; beat well.
  3. Pour into 2 greased, floured and paper lined 9" cake pans.
  4. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar to soft peaks.
  5. Gradually add in 1 c. sugar beating till stiff peaks form.
  6. Spread over cake batter.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 min.
  8. Remove cake from pans when cold, meringue side up.
  9. Mash 1 peach with 2 Tbsp.
  10. sugar; add in whipped cream, folding gently.
  11. Slice remaining peaches.
  12. Spread 2/3 cream mix over bottom cake layer.
  13. Add in top layer, spread with remaining cream.
  14. Garnish with peach slices.
  15. Chill till serving.
  16. When peaches are in season this dessert is on our table frequently.
  17. It doesn't require much effort, yet looks so impressive.
