Homemade Buttermilk Biscuit
- 3 cup All-purpose flour (pre sifted)
- 3 tsp Baking powder
- 3/4 cup Buttermilk
- 1 tsp Salt
- 3/4 tsp Baking soda
- 3/4 cup Shortning
- Preheat oven to 450F
- In a large bowl mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
- Add shortening slowly working it into the dry ingredients.
- (preferred hands)
- Add Buttermilk working it into the mixture.
- After everything is thoroughly mixed plop into a floured surface.
- Knees dough until it is about the consistency of clay.
- You can make it thicker by sprinkling more flour.
- Pinch off a church & roll it into a ball & then pat it flat about 1 1/2 in.-2 in.
- thick.
- if you want perfect looking biscuits,use a rolling pin & a cookie cutter 2 in.
- in diameter to make biscuits look better.
- cut out biscuits & place on a lightly greased/floured baking sheet about 1/4in.
- apart.
- place in center of rack & bake until golden brown about 14-18 min.
