Grandma's Stuffed Cabbage Recipe
- 1 head cabbage
- 1 1/2 lbs. grnd beef
- 1 c. raw rice
- 1 onion (med. sized)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 12 ounce. can tomato sauce
- 2 (12 ounce.) cans water
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 plus tbsp. sugar (to taste)
- Core cabbage.
- Boil cabbage in 2 inches of water in covered pot till leaves get soft.
- Dice onion and brown in small amount of vegetable oil.
- Parboil rice; mix meat, rice, and onion together.
- Add in salt and pepper.
- Mix, then separate cabbage leaves.
- Put 2 - 2 1/2 inch sized balls of meat mix into cabbage leaf and roll leaf closed.
- Make tomato sauce mix to simmer stuffed cabbage in (mix tomato sauce, water, lemon juice, and sugar together for a sweet and sour taste using a large pot).
- Simmer the stuffed cabbage in mix for 1 hour.
