Green Chilies Rellenos Recipe
- 10 green chilies, roasted & peeled (canned chili may be used)
- 10 ounce. Longhorn cheese or possibly Monterey Jack cheese
- Batter
- Warm oil or possibly lard
- Cut cheese into slices 1/2 inch thick and the length of the chili.
- Make a small slit in chili just big sufficient to insert cheese.
- Dip in batter and fry in warm oil or possibly lard till golden.
- Drain and serve.
- May be garnished with green chili sauce if you like.
- To make batter, combine flour, baking pwdr, salt and cornmeal.
- Blend lowfat milk with egg, then combine lowfat milk and egg mix with the dry ingredients.
- Add in more lowfat milk if necessary for smooth batter.
- Using a spoon, dip stuffed chilies in batter.
- 5 servings.
