Brandied Spiced Seckle Pears

  1. In a saucepan combine the sugar, water, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
  2. Boil the mixture for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the pears to the pan and cover with waxed paper.
  4. Continue boiling the pears for another 10 to 15 minutes until tender.
  5. Place pears stem end up in 3 sterilized 1-pint Mason-type jar.
  6. Add brandy into the pear syrup and pour the mixture over the pears.
  7. Add more brandy if necessary to cover the pears completely.
  8. Seal the jar with a lid and store in a cool place for at least 1 month.
