BLT Salad

  1. From lemon, grate 1 teaspoon peel and squeeze 2 tablespoons juice into a small bowl.
  2. Stir in mayonnaise, basil, water, and 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper until blended.
  3. Arrange lettuce on a large platter.
  4. Top with an even layer of tomato slices; sprinkle tomatoes with 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  5. Drizzle half of lemon dressing over tomatoes.
  6. Crumble bacon and sprinkle over tomatoes.
  7. Pass remaining lemon dressing separately.
