Aunt Nellie'S Applesauce Cake

  1. Use "dead ripe" persimmons and put through a strainer.
  2. Sift together all dry ingredients; stir in remaining ingredients. Place in dessert mold and cover with greased or waxed paper and then in kettle with sufficient water, cover tightly and steam for 1 to 3 hours.
  3. (Or place pudding in top pan of double boiler, cover with aluminum foil, then the lid and steam for 1 1/2 hours.)
