Hearty Cornbread

  1. Preheat oven to 425F.
  2. Mix cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt in large bowl; stir in 1 cup of the cheese.
  3. Beat egg lightly in medium bowl with wire whisk.
  4. Add milk and butter; beat until well blended.
  5. Add to cornmeal mixture; mix just until moistened.
  6. Pour into greased 9-inch round cake pan.
  7. Sprinkle with remaining cheese; top with pepper rings.
  8. Bake 20 to 25 min.
  9. or until golden brown.
