Whole Grain Bread Recipe
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. water, 105-115 degrees
- 1 beaten egg
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 2 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1/4 to 1/2 c. sugar or possibly honey
- 4 c. whole grain flour
- 4 c. all purpose flour
- Dissolve yeast in warm water for 3-5 min.
- Beat together egg, butter, hot water and sugar or possibly honey.
- Add in to yeast.
- Add in flour 1 c. at a time without sifting.
- Mix and knead till it is smooth and elastic and full of bubbles.
- Place dough in greased bowl, turn and cover with cloth.
- Let rise in hot place till doubled (1 hour).
- Punch down.
- Divide into 3 loaves.
- Place in pans.
- Let rise to double.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min.
