Ham Barbecue
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
- 1 Tablespoon Dried Minced Onion(or 2 Tablespoons Fresh Onion, Minced VERY Finely)
- 1/2 Tablespoons Cider Vinegar
- 1/2 Tablespoons Prepared Mustard
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cups Water
- 1 Tablespoon Flour
- 1/2 cups Ketchup
- 1 pound Thinly Shaved Smoked Deli Ham
- 6 whole Sandwich Buns(or 8 Smaller Homemade Rolls)
- 6 slices Muenster Cheese(or Swiss)
- Melt butter in saucepan.Whisk in the onion, vinegar, mustard, worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.
- In a small bowl whisk together the water and flour until well combined.
- Slowly add this to the mixture in the pan.
- Add in the ketchup.
- Bring to a simmer and whisk constantly until mixture thickens, about 2 minutes.
- Chop your ham until it is in small thin shreds.
- Add it to the sauce in the pan and slowly heat the mixture.
- Simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes, partially covered, stirring occasionally
- Scoop mixture onto individual rolls and top with a slice of Muenster or Swiss cheese.
- Enjoy a taste of nostalgic central Pennsylvania!
