Spicy brown beans with smoked meat
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 packages pinto beans
- 1 smoked meat, hamhocks or turkey
- 1 pinch pepper flakes
- 3 bay leaf
- 1/4 tsp garlic paste/
- 1/3 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 packages sazon seasoning in Orange box
- 1 water enough to cover the beans
- Chop vegetables and reseve.
- Rinse smoked meat in cold water.
- Boil on high to all the dirt boils off meat.
- Pour off and rinse meat.
- Repeat this process until meat boils pretty clear besides the fat.
- Rinse and pick beans.
- Reserve
- Add sazon, garlic paste, pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper to smoked meat.
- Continue to boil until almost tender.
- #If using pork light on any other seasoning.
- Add pinto beans once smoke meat is almost tender.
- Add vegetables.
- Add more seasoning and pepper flakes to your liking.
- This will take quite a while so you have to keep a close eye on it if you prefer you can use a crock pot or slow cooker stirring often
