Glazed Donuts Recipe
- 1 recipe Basic Yeast Donuts
- 3 cups powdered sugar, also known as confectioners sugar, sifted
- 1/3 cup hot water
- 1 teaspoon light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of fine sea salt
- Mix the dough, let it rise, roll it out, and cut it into donuts .
- Fry the donuts and donut holes and set aside to cool.
- Place the powdered sugar, hot water, corn syrup, vanilla, and salt in a shallow bowl and whisk to form a very smooth glaze.
- Cover with plastic wrap until ready to use (and use within 1 hour).
- When the donuts are just cool enough to handle, dip them top-side down into the glaze.
- Let the excess glaze drip off, and let the donuts dry on a wire rack set over a baking sheet.
- Do the same with the donut holes.
- Decorate with sprinkles, coarse sugar, chopped toasted nuts, dried coconut flakes, or whatever you fancy before the glaze sets.
