Beef Goulash
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 12 lbs blade steaks, cut into 1/2in cubes
- 3 onions, sliced
- 3 tablespoons paprika
- 3 garlic cloves, smashed and chopped
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 4 cups beef stock, heated
- 1 tablespoon basil
- 1 teaspoon caraway seed
- 12 teaspoon thyme
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- preheat oven to 325*F.
- heat half of oil in ovenproof saute pan over med heat.
- add half of meat and sear well on all sides.
- season with salt and pepper.
- remove meat from pan and set aside.
- add remaining oil to pan and repeat searing technique for reamaining meat.
- place all meat aside.
- add onions to hot pan and cook 8 minutes over med heat, stirring occasionally.
- add paprika and garlic, mix well and cook 8 minutes over med heat.
- return meat to saute pan.
- sprinkle in flour and mix well.
- cook 4 minutes over low heat.
- add remaining ingredients and season, mix well.
- bring to a boil, cover and cook 3 hours in oven.
