Apple Glace Pie
- 1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 pastry shell (9 inch), baked, cooled
- 1/2 cup sugar, divided
- 2/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup small hot cinnamon candies
- 4 cups sliced peeled apples Safeway 1 lb For $0.99 thru 02/09
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice Safeway 4 ct For $5.00 thru 02/09
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- Mix cream cheese, 2 Tbsp.
- sugar, the milk and vanilla until well blended.
- Spread onto bottom of pastry shell.
- Place 1/2 cup sugar, the water and candies in large saucepan; cook on low heat until candies are completely melted, stirring occasionally.
- Add apples; cook 8 to 10 min.
- or until tender.
- Drain apples, reserving 1/2 cup of the liquid; pour into small saucepan.
- Add lemon juice and cornstarch; stir until well blended.
- Bring to boil on medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Boil 1 min.
- Arrange apples over cream cheese mixture; drizzle evenly with apple glaze.
- Refrigerate several hours or until chilled.
- Store leftover pie in refrigerator.
