Hearty Beef and Barley Soup

  1. In a large nonstick saucepan, brown beef until juices evaporate, stirring often.
  2. Add mushrooms and garlic powder; cook until mushrooms are tender.
  3. Add broth, carrots, thyme and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil.
  5. Stir in barley.
  6. Cover and cook over low heat for 20 minutes or until barley is tender.
