Scripture Cake

• 3/4 c. Psalms 55:21a (1/2 c. shortening and 1/4 c. oil)
• 1 c. Jeremiah 6:20 (sugar)
• 3 Isaiah 10:14 (eggs)
• 2 1/4 c. 1 Kings 4:22a (flour)
• 1 tsp. 1 Corinthians 5:6 (baking powder)
• pinch of Matthew 5:13 (salt)
• 1/4 c. Judges 4:19b (milk)
• 1 Tbsp. Judges 14:18 (honey)
• 1/4 tsp. 2 Chronicles 9:9 (nutmeg)
• 1 tsp. 2 Chronicles 9:9 (cinnamon)
• 1 c. 2 Samuel 16:1b (raisins)
• 1 c. Song of Solomon 2:13a (figs or dates)
• 1 c. Numbers 17:8 (almonds), chopped

1. Cream shortening, oil and sugar together, then add eggs, one at a time.
2. Proverbs 23:14 (beat) well.
3. Sift and measure flour, baking powder and salt.
4. Add alternately to sugar mixture with milk.
5. Stir in honey and spices, then raisins, figs (or dates) and almonds.
6. 2 Kings 4:5 (pour) into well-greased vessels (loaf pans or a 9 x 13-inch pan) and Leviticus 24:5 (bake) for 45 minutes.
