Old Fashioned Jelly Roll
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 c. cold water
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp.salt
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- jelly or jam
- nuts
- cream icing
- Beat eggs until light. Add sugar and continue beating until fluffy. Add water and vanilla. Cream. Sift dry ingredients together and add gradually.
- Pour batter in a 15 x 11-inch jelly roll pan lined with greased wax paper.
- Bake in a 375u0b0 oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Turn out immediately on a tea towel which has been sprinkled with powdered sugar.
- Cut off edges of cake and remove wax paper.
- Spread liberally with jelly or jam and roll up.
- Wrap with towel until cool.
- Remove towel and spread with cream icing and garnish with nuts or cherries.
- Yields 10 servings.
