Apple Crostini With Fontina Recipe

  1. Peel, core and cube apples into 1/4-inch dice.
  2. In a 12-inch to 14-inch saute/fry pan, heat butter till foam subsides.
  3. Add in onions and cook till soft and golden brown-brown, about 8 to 10 min.
  4. Add in apples and poppy seeds and cook till edges are softened, about 5 to 6 min.
  5. Add in grappa and lower heat.
  6. Meanwhile, grill bread on both sides and place on platter.
  7. Place a cheese slice on each piece of bread.
  8. Spoon apples over and serve.
  9. This recipe yields 4 servings.
