Merridee's Apple Brownies With Butter Sauce
- 14 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 12 teaspoon cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups tart apples (thinly sliced)
- 12 cup walnuts (chopped)
- 12 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 12 cup milk
- 12 cup sugar
- 12 cup brown sugar
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- For brownies cream shortening, sugar and egg for one minute.
- Add sifted dry ingredients and blend thoroughly.
- Stir in apples and walnuts.
- Pour into greased and floured pie pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- For butter sauce combine all ingredients except vanilla and bring to a rolling boil.
- Remove from heat and add vanilla.
- Serve over warm brownies.
