Desperate for Sushi
- 1 -2 nori sushi sheet
- 1 -2 cup cooked white rice
- 3 -4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- wasabi paste
- smoked salmon
- 12 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 12-1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 14 cucumber, in strips
- pickled ginger
- toasted sesame seeds
- I just use any leftover white rice I have and warm it in the microwave with a little water.
- In a small bowl mix about 2-3 Table of mayo and 1-Tab of soy sauce and splash of rice vinegar about 1/2 Tab I think.
- Mix that with your rice till all rice coated.
- It may make your rice look a little brown because of the soy sauce but it should not look like rice pudding.
- That's too much mayo, unless you want it that way.
- Here you can taste the rice a see if you like it or not and if you want more mayo or soy sauce or vinegar.
- For your smoked salmon cut it into strips or smaller if like.
- In another small bowl mix a splash of soy sauce and 1/2 Tab mayo and tiny bit of wasabi paste.
- Pre warning to people new to sushi.
- Wasabi paste will clear your nose so DON'T use too much.
- Taste and adjust.
- Then add smoked salmon and mix just till lightly coated.
- Like the rice you are just coating it.
- Then spread rice on seaweed sheet.
- Lightly sprinkle rice with sesame seeds and put your strips of cucumber, salmon, and ginger on one end.
- I also like to put a line of wasbi paste in front of that- then roll.
- And there you have it.
- It maybe a little messy if you put too much filling; but if so just eat it and remember to add less next time.
