Classic Pizza

  1. Steps to make the crust:
  2. Pour the warm water into a small bowl, and add the sugar and yeast.
  3. Let the mixture sit until foamy.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  5. After the yeast mixture is ready, mix with flour, olive oil, Italian seasoning and salt.
  6. Combine well.
  7. This can be done with a wooden spoon, however I chose to use my hands (if choosing to mix with your hands, make sure they are clean.)
  8. If mixture is looking too sticky, add a little bit of flour.
  9. When everything is mixed well, knead the dough for 5 minutes or until dough forms a smooth, elastic ball.
  10. Cover dough with a warm, damp towel, and let rest for at least 20 minutes.
  11. Grease pizza pan (I would suggest a pan that has large holes in the bottom, this makes the crust crispier) by brushing it with olive oil.
  12. After dough has rested, use your fingers to spread dough onto the greased pizza pan.
  13. Bake the dough in preheated oven for 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
  14. Allow the crust to cool completely before preparing pizza.
  15. Steps to make the pizza:
  16. Spread pizza sauce onto the baked crust.
  17. Be sure to use a good amount of sauce.
  18. Sprinkle cheese onto sauce, and top with your favorite toppings.
  19. Bake in oven for 10-15 minutes or until cheese is melted.
