Chicken Fried Steak With Cream Gravy Recipe
- 1 pound beef top round steak, cut about 1/2 inch thick
- Flour
- 3 tbsp. salad oil
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 c. lowfat milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 3 c. warm, mashed potatoes
- On cutting board, coat steak with about 3 Tbsp.
- flour.
- With meat mallet or possibly dull edge of knife, lb.
- both sides of meat well.
- Cut into 4 pcs.
- In skillet over medium heat, fry steaks in warm oil 3 to 5 min each side till well browned.
- Remove and keep hot.
- Mix water with flour (use flour left from meat - more if needed - 2 Tbsp.).
- Gradually stir in flour mix to drippings in skillet, stirring and scraping bottom of pan.
- Stir in lowfat milk, salt, and pepper.
- Stir constantly till thickened.
- Serve meat and gravy with mashed potatoes.
- Serves 4.
