Quick Kummelwecks
- 12 fresh kaiser rolls
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons water
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and put rolls on a baking sheet.
- In a small bowl stir salt and caraway seeds.
- In a small saucepan bring 1/2 cup water to a boil and in a small bowl dissolve cornstarch in remaining 2 tablespoons water.
- Add cornstarch mixture to boiling water and boil, stirring, until thickened.
- Remove mixture from heat and brush it onto tops of rolls.
- Sprinkle rolls with salt and seeds and bake in middle of oven until crisp, about 5 minutes.
