Best-Ever Shortcake
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 14 cup shortening
- 1 cup milk
- 2 (10 ounce) packages frozen strawberries, thawed
- whipped topping (optional)
- Preheat oven to 450F.
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut shortening into flour mixture until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
- Blend in milk; mix well.
- Spread dough in a 9X9inch baking pan.
- Bake 15 minutes.
- Serve warm or let cool; top with strawberries before serving.
- Garnish with whipped cream.
