Grilled Flattened Chicken

  1. Mix first 3 ingredients until well blended; reserve 1/4 cup for later use.
  2. Place chicken, breast-side down, on cutting board.
  3. Use kitchen shears to remove backbone.
  4. Turn chicken over; press on breastbone to flatten chicken.
  5. Place, skin-side up, in shallow dish; tuck in wings.
  6. Brush with remaining dressing mixture.
  7. Refrigerate 2 hours to marinate, turning chicken occasionally.
  8. Heat grill to medium heat.
  9. Cover grate with heavy-duty foil; spray with cooking spray.
  10. Remove chicken from marinade; discard marinade.
  11. Place chicken, breast-side down, on foil.
  12. Grill 45 min.
  13. or until chicken is done (165 degrees F), turning after 10 min.
  14. Transfer to cutting board.
  15. Tent with foil; let stand 10 min.
  16. Meanwhile, brush asparagus with reserved dressing mixture.
  17. Grill 6 to 8 min.
  18. or until crisp-tender, turning occasionally.
  19. Slice chicken; serve with asparagus.
