Sara's Sangria
- 2/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (juice of approximately 6 limes)
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 cups fruity red wine preferably Cabernet Sauvignon
- 1 cup sparkling water (Calistoga)
- Two cups of fresh fruit in season (soft flavorful fruit like berries and peaches)
- 6 wheels of lime (lime slice with cut made on one side)
- Make lime syrup by mixing lime juice, sugar and 1/4 cup water in small saucepan.
- Heat on warm setting on stove, stir until sugar dissolves.
- Cut fruit into small decorative pieces and mix with lime syrup.
- Pour into pitcher and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Add wine and sparkling water to fruit mixture.
- (Taste, if it is bitter, add 1-2 tablespoons of sugar.)
- Serve over ice, garnish glass with lime wheel.
