Healthy, Tasty, Sloppy Joes
- 1 kg lean ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 large tomatoes, chopped
- 12 teaspoon dried oregano

- 12 teaspoon mustard powder
- 2 teaspoons sugar or 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 12 cup water
- 5 -6 hamburger buns
- Gently saute the onions until they are soft - you don't want to brown them, they need to be translucent and sweet.
- Add the tomatoes, oregano, basil, mustard, tomato paste, sugar.
- Simmer gently, covered, until the tomatoes are cooked, soft and loose.
- Gently fry your beef until it is cooked, turn into the pan containing your tomato sauce.
- Add water.
- Simmer gently until beef is tender and mixture has obtained 'sloppy' consistency.
- Serve on split, toasted buns.
- Alternatives and additions: Speed things up with a can of low-sodium tomato puree.
- Chopped mushrooms, sweetcorn, chile sauce, anything you can think of that your family or friends like can be added at the last stage.
