Orange Bread

  1. Sift dry ingredients into a mixing bowl; cut in shortening with a pastry blender.
  2. Add milk, orange juice, and egg.
  3. Mix just enough to moisten dry ingredients.
  4. Add grated orange rind and chopped nuts.
  5. Pour into a greased loaf pan, spreading batter to corners.
  6. Bake at 350 for 55 to 60 minutes.
  7. Turn onto rack to cool.
  8. Best if made at least one day in advance.
