Brownies

  1. Preheat oven to 180C, gas mark 4.
  2. Grease a large baking tin.
  3. Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water.
  4. Sift the plain flour, a pinch of salt, cocoa and baking powder into a separate bowl.
  5. Beat the sugar and the eggs until pale and creamy.
  6. Slowly add the eggs and the yolk until smooth mixture.
  7. Gently fold the melted chocolate and the vanilla extract into the butter and sugar mixture, followed by dry ingredients and chocolate chips.
  8. Add to the tin and cook for 30 minutes.
  9. When finished, leave to chill for an hour.
