Sour Cream Cut-Out Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C).
  2. Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg yolk, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, and sour cream.
  4. Gradually add the flour until all is well incorporated.
  5. On a lightly flour surface, roll dough to 1/8inch thickness.
  6. Cut into desired shapes.
  7. Place on lightly greased cookie sheets about 1 inch apart.
  8. The dough may be rerolled.
  9. Bake 15 minutes or until lightly brown on the bottom.
  10. (Small cookies may bake faster.)
  11. Cool 1 to 2 minutes on the sheets, then remove to wire racks to completely cool.
  12. Decorate as desired.
  13. Makes about 8 dozen cookies depending on cookie cutter size.
