Pinto Beans and Ham Hocks
- 3 smoked ham hocks
- 2 lb. pinto beans, dried and picked over.
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
- 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. hot sauce
- to taste
- 1/2 md. onion, chopped
- Boil hamhocks in water on high heat for 45 minutes.
- Add all seasonings except the hot sauce and the onion.
- Continue to boil for 20 minutes.
- Add pinto beans, hot sauce and onion.
- Boil on medium heat until beans are tender.
- Drain off the water and serve.
