Eggless, Butterless, Milkless Cake Recipe

• 2 c. brown sugar
• 2 c. warm water
• 2 tbsp. shortening
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 pkg. seedless raisins
• 3/4 teaspoon cloves
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 3 c. flour
• 1 teaspoon soda

1. Boil together sugar, water, shortening, salt, raisins and spices for five min.
2. When cool, add in flour and the soda dissolved in 1 teaspoon of warm water.
3. Stir just sufficient to mix well.
