Baked Apples With Philly Custard

  1. CUT apples into three slices, place into a large shallow baking dish with the wine and cinnamon.
  2. Sprinkle over the brown sugar.
  3. Bake at 180C for 20 minutes until tender.
  4. Spooning the syrup over the apples occasionally.
  5. WHISK together the cream cheese and milk.
  6. Heat in a saucepan.
  7. Add sugar, vanilla bean and custard powder paste.
  8. Bring to the boil, stirring until thickened.
  9. REMOVE apples from syrup, and keep warm.
  10. Pour syrup into a small saucepan.
  11. Combine arrowroot with some of the syrup to form a paste.
  12. Add to saucepan, and simmer until thickened.
  13. Serve apple slices with syrup and custard.
