Traditional Cottage Pie

  1. boil the potatoes until you can cut easily with a knife
  2. mostly brown mince off in a pan
  3. dice onion and carrots.
  4. crush garlic.
  5. add to the mince.
  6. crumble oxo over and finish off browning the mince
  7. add both sauces, herbs, garlic and gravy.
  8. simmer
  9. drain the potatoes and leave to steam for 5 mins to make fluffy mash
  10. pour mince into a deep casserole dish
  11. add butter and milk to the potatoes and mash until all the lumps have gone
  12. clip the end of the pipping bag and spoon in the mash.
  13. remove clip and pipe one even layer of mash then a layer of spikes
  14. place under a grill/broiler until peaks brown
  15. if you don't have a pipping bag just spoon on the mash and spike up with a fork

onion, carrots, clove garlic, beef, worcester sauce, brown sauce, herbs, potatoes, milk, butter
