French Toast filled with Strawberry Cream Cheese

  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, strawberry preserves, and orange zest until smooth.
  2. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and orange liqueur.
  4. Pour into a shallow bowl, such as a pie plate.
  5. Set aside.
  6. With a pairing knife, slice a pocket into the side of the bread.
  7. Do not cut all of the way through the bread.
  8. Fill bread slices with a heaping spoonful of cream cheese mixture.
  9. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  10. Dip the filled bread in the egg mixture and place in the skillet to brown on both sides, about 1 to 2 minutes per side.
  11. Repeat with remaining slices.
  12. Serve hot with additional Strawberry Cream Cheese on the side.
  13. 1 cup frozen strawberries, thawed
  14. 1 pint sour cream
  15. 2 tablespoons orange liqueur (recommended: Grand Marnier)
  16. 2 tablespoons milk
  17. 1 teaspoon honey
  18. 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
  19. Add all ingredients to a blender and pulse to combine.
