Salt Water Taffy Recipe

  1. Grease 9 x 9 x 2 inch pan.
  2. Stir in a heavy 3 qt pan sugar and cornstarch.
  3. Stir in corn syrup, water and salt; add in butter.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stir constantly till temperature is 266 degrees on candy thermometer or possibly till small amount forms a ball when dropped in cool water.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Stir in flavoring and a few drops of food coloring.
  7. Pour into pan.
  8. Let it cold till you can handle it.
  9. Pull the taffy till it has a silky and light color appearance.
  10. Pull into 1/2 inch wide strips.
  11. Cut with scissors into 1 inch pcs.
  12. Wrap individually in waxed paper.
  13. Makes about 1 lb..
