Donuts Or Fry Cakes Recipe
- 1 cake yeast or possibly 2 dry melted in a little water
- 2 c potato, cooked and mashed
- 2 c. lowfat milk, heated and cooled
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 c. sugar (extra full)
- 2 beaten Large eggs
- 3/4 c. shortening or possibly soft butter
- Put in 4 c. flour.
- Let rise double in bulk and add in 4 1/2 c. flour, let rise till double in bulk.
- Roll out 1 inch thick and cut.
- Fry in 3 inches of Crisco.
