Easy Gratin-style Onion and Cabbage

  1. Chop the onion in half, lengthwise, then slice crosswise thinly.
  2. Shred the cabbage into slightly wide strips.
  3. Cut the bacon into thin strips.
  4. Heat mayonnaise (1 tablespoon) in a pan and add onions.
  5. Saute until wilted and translucent.
  6. Add the bacon and cabbage into the pan at step 2 and stir fry quickly.
  7. Add water and steam.
  8. When the liquid has almost reduced, season with ingredients.
  9. Transfer the ingredients in step 4 to a heatproof plate and spread it out.
  10. Scatter cheese and microwave (3 minutes at 500W) until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
  11. Serve while hot.
