Cranberry Cake With Butter Sauce
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 12 teaspoons baking powder
- 3 tablespoons shortening, melted
- 23 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 cups fresh cranberries
- 12 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 34 cup evaporated milk
- Cake: Sift dry ingredients into bowl.
- Add shortening, milk, and eggs.
- Beat 2 minutes.
- Stir in cranberries.
- Bake in buttered 9 inch square pan at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
- Serve with hot butter sauce.
- Hot butter sauce: Melt butter in double boiler.
- Add sugar and milk; mix well.
- Cook over hot water 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot over cake.
