Baked Plantains

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F.
  2. Dont peel the plantains, but cut off their ends, then split them in half the long way.
  3. Make a few gashes in their flesh.
  4. Mix together the sugar, allspice, and cinnamon and push into those gashes.
  5. Dot with butter, pushing some of the butter into the slits as well.
  6. Put the plantains in a baking dish that will hold them comfortably.
  7. Bake until the tops are bubbly, about 20 minutes; you can run them under the broiler if youd like, to brown them a bit.
  8. Let cool a little before serving.
