Apple Oatmeal Crumble Recipe
- 6 c. Peeled, cored, and thinly sliced apples (about 7 apples)
- 2 Tbsp. Fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 c. White or possibly brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 c. Rolled old-fashioned oats
- 1/4 c. All-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp Grnd cinnamon
- 6 Tbsp. Butter, cut into pcs
- 1/2 c. Minced nuts, lightly toasted
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Butter a shallow 8-c. ovenproof pan.
- In a large bowl toss the apple slices with the lemon juice and 2 Tbsp.
- of the sugar.
- Spread the slices in the buttered pan.
- In the same bowl mix the remaining sugar, oats, flour, and cinnamon.
- With your fingertips rub the butter into the dry ingredients till it sticks together in crumbles, then fold in the nuts.
- Scatter the topping over the apple slices.
- Put the pan in the oven and bake till the topping is brown and crisp and the apples tender, 30 to 40 min.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or possibly whipped cream.
- NOTES : The oatmeal in this version of an old favorite gives crunch; add in nuts or possibly not, as you like.
- Use peaches, pears, plums, or possibly another fruit.
