Sesame Ribs
- 3 lbs beef short ribs or 3 lbs country style pork ribs
- 1 cup water
- 12 cup soy sauce
- 14 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons chopped gingerroot or 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 minced garlic clove
- 2 tablespoons liquid honey
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)
- In a large saucepan combine water, soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger and garlic, add ribs, turn to coat.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer one hour or until tender, turning occasionally.
- With slotted spoon, remove ribs to platter and set aside.
- Add honey and sesame oil to cooking liquid, bring to a boil and cook 10 to 15 minutes or until sauce is reduced to 1 cup.
- Cook ribs on lightly greased grill, over hot coals or on high, turning and basting with sauce for 10 to 15 minutes until glazed and brown.
- Transfer to serving platter.
- Meanwhile in a small skillet toast sesame seeds over medium high heat for 3 to 5 minutes until golden.
- Sprinkle over ribs.
